From 9th to 11th May, the 30 single-seaters in the FFSA Academy will be racing on the Burgundy track for the second round of the French F4 Championship. After his two successes in the season opener at Nogaro, Alex Munoz will be the leader at Dijon-Prenois.
The launch of the F4 Academy lived up to all its promises at the Easter Cup, and the 2025 French Championship is once again a benchmark competition for identifying and training young drivers. The field was not only strong in terms of numbers, but also in terms of quality, with many contenders for the title. Seven different drivers finished on the podium at Nogaro, anticipating an extremely open season ahead. The changeable weather conditions played a significant role in the first round, and the Dijon event could change everything.
Different profiles in the fight for the podium
The drivers competing in the FIA-certified French F4 Championship do not all have the same racing background, but they all have the same desire to succeed. Whether they have already had the opportunity to race in F4 in 2024, whether or not they have experience of karting at a high level, or whether they have been trained by the FFSA Academy as part of the French Junior Karting Championship, they will all have the same chance of success thanks to the unique concept developed over decades by the FFSA Academy: a Mygale single-seater equipped with a Renault Sport engine and identical Pirelli tyres for all the drivers, within the same structure. Pierre Gasly, Isack Hadjar, Théo Pourchaire and Victor Martins have all made their mark here. Who’s next?
Trends to be confirmed
Two wins for Alex Munoz against one for Arthur Dorison, two podiums for Jules Roussel, a pole position followed by a top three finish for Andy Consani, a big comeback by Louis Iglesias and some brilliant performances by Rafaël Perard and Mattéo Giaccardi: the F4 Academy scene is set, but it doesn’t end with these seven drivers in the top seven places in the Championship standings after Nogaro.
Feed Racing driver Malo Bolliet, who posted a fastest lap and a top-five finish, is aiming for a quick podium finish. Finishing 4th in one of the three races in the Gers, Guillaume Bouzar showed speed to watch out for. Like drivers such as Munoz, Roussel and Dorison, Rayan Caretti is counting on a season’s experience in F4 in 2025 to give him a chance to fight quickly for victory.
Annabelle Brian and Lisa Billard ready to fight back
While there’s a lot of talk about male drivers when it comes to the favourites for the French F4 Championship, the competition among the women, who make up a record 20% of the field, should not be overlooked. Lisa Billard has already shown that she is capable of fighting for the overall podium by Qualifying in the top 10, while Dutchwoman Annabelle Brian has also shown great potential. Jade Jacquet, Angelina Proenca, Héloïse Goldberg and Moroccan driver Sofia Zanfari are all aiming to continue their rise to prominence.
In Dijon, tyre management is likely to play an important role during the three official days of competition, as will the weather conditions…
