The tension was palpable among the drivers in the French F4 Championship, as the Le Mans event was the last of the season. The 29 drivers were determined to do their best in their final Qualifying session of 2025. The Bugatti circuit is often conducive to drivers exceeding track limits, and several were caught out, resulting in the cancellation of numerous laps.
At the end of the 30-minute session on a dry track, Alex Munoz emerged at the top of the standings, but the Championship leader lost his advantage due to those infamous track limits. As at Magny-Cours, pole position went to Louis Iglesias with a time of 1:37.418 at an average speed of over 154 km/h. Arthur Dorison was just 3 thousandths of a second away from repeating his performance at Lédenon! Munoz’s rival in the overall standings, Jules Roussel, secured 3rd place, just ahead of his main rival.
In fine form at the end of the season, Japan’s Rintaro Sato (winner of a race two weeks earlier at Lédenon) finished the session in 5th place ahead of Rafaël Perard and Guillaume Bouzar. For these three drivers, the gap to pole position is only two tenths of a second. Hugo Herrouin returned to the top 10 with the 8th fastest time ahead of Monaco’s Mattéo Giaccardi and Malo Bolliet. Ranked 11th ahead of Lisa Billard, Roméo Leurs lost a top 10 spot after his fastest lap was cancelled. Bolliet will therefore start Race 2 in pole position ahead of Giaccardi, in accordance with the reverse grid principle for the 10 fastest drivers.
In the ranking of the best second fastest times achieved by each driver, used to determine the starting grid order for Race 3, Dorison secured pole position ahead of Roussel, Iglesias and Munoz. The three races this weekend promise to be exciting.
